Trace Effects: English Learning Game

U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has launched Trace Effects, a groundbreaking 3-D immersive video game for young English language learners. The game has been developed by the Office of English Language Programs, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), to complement English language instruction through Web and DVD-based interactive 3-D multi-media learning activities.  Trace Effects is designed to be installed via DVD in all American Spaces, computer centers used by English Access Microscholarship students, public libraries, and public-access cultural centers with computer labs. Trace Effects includes seven chapters of game play, 28 practice activities, four multi-player practice games, comprehensive teacher and student manuals, seven illustrated chapter summaries, a point-based scoring system, American English dictionary integration, offline play option through a DVD, a mobile app for smart phones, and social media connectivity.
