U.S. Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard L. Morningstar Visits Turkmenistan

Ashgabat, June 13, 2011 – The U.S. Secretary of State’s Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy, Ambassador Richard L. Morningstar is visiting Turkmenistan today.  He will meet with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to discuss energy cooperation and will hold high level talks with Turkmen Government officials on energy issues.

Ambassador Richard L. Morningstar was appointed to his current position by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and was sworn in on April 6, 2009.  Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Morningstar lectured at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and at Stanford Law School.  From June 1999 to September 2001, he served as the United States Ambassador to the European Union.  Earlier, Ambassador Morningstar served as Special Advisor to the President and Secretary of State for Caspian Basin Energy Diplomacy.
