Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Susan M. Elliott

Ashgabat, November 15, 2010 – Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Susan M. Elliott is visiting Turkmenistan November 15-19 to head a delegation from the United States to the Turkmenistan Oil and Gas Conference 2010.  During the visit, Deputy Assistant Secretary Elliott will meet with Government officials in Turkmenistan and visit Mary city.

Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Susan M. Elliott was appointed to the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs in September 2010.  Prior to her appointment, she served overseas in Moscow as Minister Counselor for Political Affairs.  From 2007 to 2009 she served as Principal Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Belfast.    Prior to that, she worked as a Deputy Executive Secretary on the staff of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. During her tenure on Secretary Rice’s staff, Ms. Elliott’s regional responsibilities included Europe, and South and Central Asia. Ms. Elliott directed the Executive Secretariat Staff from 2003 to 2005.
