The U.S. Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard L. Morningstar Visits Turkmenistan

Ashgabat, March 2, 2010 – The U.S. Secretary of State’s Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Ambassador Richard L. Morningstar is planning to visit Turkmenistan March 2-4, 2010. He is planning to meet with top-level officials of the Government of Turkmenistan on further cooperation in the energy sector.
Ambassador Richard L. Morningstar was appointed to his current position by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and was sworn in on April 6, 2009. Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Morningstar lectured at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and at Stanford Law School. From June 1999 to September 2001, he served as the United States Ambassador to the European Union. Earlier, Ambassador Morningstar served as Special Advisor to the President and Secretary of State for Caspian Basin Energy Diplomacy.
