U.S. Embassy Marks Women’s History Month

On March 27th, the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat organized a reception in honor of the Women’s History Month at the “Ashgabat” hotel. Female alumni of different U.S. exchange programs, successful businesswomen, government representatives, heads of NGOs and representatives of various organizations were invited to the event. Deputy Chief of Mission Silvia Curran, welcoming all of the guests, spoke about the development of woman’s role in the U.S history in Turkmenistan and throughout the world. Public Affairs Officer Andrew Paul gave a presentation about the history of the suffrage movement in the USA and its successes, and the work of famous women of the world, who made significant contributions to the development of their society’s and the global community at large. The embassy also offered several handouts about resources available at the U.S. Embassy on Women’s History Month. The event was a great opportunity to highlight achievements and successes of Turkmen alumni of U.S. exchange programs, as well as representatives of local organizations and institutions.
