PAS No 235
April 1, 2009

Экономисты Туркменистана приобретают навыки английского языка
Turkmen economists master English language skills
Ashgabat, April 1, 2009 – Today, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through its project for Economic Reforms to Enhance Competitiveness in Central Asian Republics (EREC), launched its program on Business English language training (ELT) course for four groups of specialists.  The groups include specialists from the Ministry of Economics and Development and the Institute of Strategic Planning and Economic Development of Turkmenistan.

One of the participants from the Institute of Strategic Planning and Economic Development emphasized that “advancing her English in economics will allow her to collect more information related to her research”.  The course will help participants to improve Business English language skills, communicate more effectively and conduct on-the-job research using a wide range of English language Internet resources.

This is the second round of such courses.  The specialists attended the first round of ELT courses for beginner and intermediate levels in 2008.  This year they will improve their skills at an advanced level in Business English.  The course lasts for three months and will be implemented by local initiative group of teachers “Turan Mugallym”.

This program is one of the many activities made possible by the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Turkmenistan. Since 1993, the American people through USAID have provided more than $80 million in programs that support Turkmenistan’s economic growth, social sector, and community initiatives.
