Ashgabat, January 23, 2009 – At the end of December 2008, the Ministry of Economy and Development of Turkmenistan registered four economic development projects:  setting up a dairy shop in Geoktepe etrap of Ahal welayat; construction of a greenhouse in Boldumsaz etrap of Dashoguz welayat, construction of a cattle farm in Kaahka etrap of Ahal welayat, and building of a vegetable and fruit storehouse in Gyorogly etrap of Dashoguz welayat.  All projects are supported by Counterpart International within the framework of the USAID-funded Turkmenistan Community Empowerment Program (TCEP).

These projects are aimed at strengthening the foundations of local economic development in communities, ensuring stable growth of agricultural production and abundant food production.

Turkmenistan Community Empowerment Program is one of the many assistance projects made possible by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  Since 1993, the American people through USAID have provided more than $80 million in programs that support Turkmenistan’s economic growth, social sector, and community initiatives.
