Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Alina Romanowski Visits Turkmenistan

Ashgabat, May 1, 2007 – Today, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Alina L. Romanowski will arrive for three days of official meetings and visits. Ms. Romanowski's schedule includes several meetings with government officials of Turkmenistan to discuss cooperation in the education sector and express United States’ interest in supporting education reforms in the country which would include modern teaching methodology, interactive classroom teaching, modern curricula, and critical thinking skills, as well as academic exchanges and partnerships with U.S. academic institutions. As part of her schedule, Ms. Romanovski will be traveling to Dashoguz City and Welayat to attend a closing ceremony of the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation project on restoration of Ak-Saray Ding tower. The ceremony will take place on May 4 at 10:30 in the morning.
Alina Romanowski currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Professional and Cultural Exchanges in the Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs where she oversees professional, cultural and youth exchanges.
