U. S. National Director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council Ahmed Younis Visits Turkmenistan

The U.S. National Director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council Ahmed Younis is visiting Turkmenistan from March 25-30, 2006. Mr. Younis’ schedule includes meetings with representatives of the Government of Turkmenistan and with imams and mullahs in the provinces of Lebap, Mary and Dashoguz. In his presentations, he discussed Muslim life in the United States and participation of Muslim-Americans in community development. He also addressed inter-faith engagement, counterterrorism, and faith and free speech.
Ahmed Younis presently serves as National Director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council. Mr. Younis is the author of a book entitled American Muslims: Voir Dire (Speak the Truth), that was translated into Arabic. He makes guest appearances on television and radio shows at Fox News Live, PBS, the Trinity Broadcasting Networks and Sinclair Broadcasting, and he is a regular speaker in government conferences on topics such as terrorist financing and counter-terrorism policy, public diplomacy and issues affecting the Muslim American community.
Mr. Younis is a member of the U.S.-Muslim World Relations Advisory Committee at the United States Institute of Peace. Younis has studied extensively in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and is a graduate of Washington & Lee School of Law.
