Ambassador Jacobson Discusses Cooperation in Economic and Cultural Fields with President Niyazov

In a January 30, 2006 meeting with Turkmenistan President Saparmurat Niyazov, Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson discussed various spheres of mutual interest, including economic cooperation – especially energy. Ambassador Jacobson also discussed possibilities for further cooperation in culture and education, specifically, the opening of U.S. Embassy Turkmenistan’s new Public Diplomacy Office in the Ak Altyn Hotel at the end of February, 2006.

Turkish Ambassador Hakki Akil also attended the meeting. Ambassador Jacobson stated: "I was pleased to meet the President together with my Turkish colleague. In the diplomatic corps, we work in a spirit of openness and cooperation."
