U.S. Ambassador and Turkmen President Discuss Further Cooperation

United States Ambassador to Turkmenistan Tracey Ann Jacobson met with the President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov today, March 1, 2004, in Ashgabat to discuss various aspects of U.S.-Turkmenistan relations and opportunities for further cooperation in the areas of education and exchanges, security, and human rights.

In her media statement after the meeting, Ambassador Jacobson expressed her satisfaction with the opportunity to meet with President Niyazov. "I hope it is one of many such useful meetings," the U.S. Ambassador said.
