U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State B. Lynn Pascoe Meets with Foreign Minister Meredov

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State B. Lynn Pascoe of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs in the U.S. Department of State met with Foreign Minister Meredov this afternoon to discuss a range of bilateral issues, as well as the current situation in Afghanistan. He emphasized the importance of the War on Terrorism to Minister Meredov and thanked him for his country's part thus far in the effort to provide humanitarian aid to the Afghan people. Ambassador Pascoe is on a regional tour with stops in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.
A Career Minister in the Senior Foreign Service of the United States, Ambassador Pascoe served most recently as Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He earlier served as the U.S. Special Negotiator for Nagorno-Karabakh and Regional Conflicts and the U.S. Co-Chair of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Minsk Group. In over three decades in the Foreign Service, he has held numerous senior-level positions in Washington, and been posted to Moscow, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur, as well as twice to Beijing. He speaks Mandarin Chinese.
