U.S. Embassy Announces New Academic Exchange Programs
March 26, 2001
The U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan is pleased to announce two new academic exchange programs for citizens of Turkmenistan for the 2001-2002 academic year. With the addition of the J. William Fulbright Program and the Junior Faculty Development Program, the Embassy now offers 10 cultural and academic exchange programs.
The Junior Faculty Development Program provides training in curriculum development and teaching methodology for university instructors from Turkmenistan in the United States for one academic year. This program is designed for teachers from higher education institutions in Turkmenistan with two or more years of professional experience as a university lecturer or administrator.
The Fulbright Program in Turkmenistan provides opportunities for outstanding Turkmen scholars and faculty members to lecture or conduct research in the United States for one semester. The Fulbright Program is the oldest among many programs administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. For fifty years, the Fulbright Program has provided American faculty and professionals the opportunity to teach and do research in universities throughout the world, and foreign faculty and scholars from 135 countries the chance to lecture and conduct research in the United States.
