U.S. Naval Forces Commanders Review Regional Security in Turkmenistan
Ashgabat, June 12, 2008 – Vice Admiral Kevin J.Cosgriff, Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (USNAVCENT), and Rear Admiral William Gortney, designated NAVCENT Commander, are visiting Turkmenistan June 12-13 to meet with the Minister of Defense and the Chairman of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan.  During the meetings, they will discuss regional security and cooperation issues. more

US Energy Envoys Examine Energy Cooperation in Turkmenistan
Ashgabat, June 4, 2008 – U.S. President George W. Bush’s Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Ambassador C. Boyden Gray and U.S. Coordinator for Eurasian Energy Diplomacy Ambassador Steven Mann are visiting Turkmenistan June 4-6 to hold high-level talks with Turkmen government officials on energy issues.  more

The U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan Announces an Open Competition for the 2009-2010 Fulbright Scholarship Program
The Fulbright Program provides opportunities for outstanding Turkmen scholars and faculty members to conduct research and lectures in the United States.  Program length ranges from one semester to one academic year. Deadline: November 1, 2008. more

Community Connections Program: Introducing Principles of Modern Surveillance of Infectious Diseases
The U.S. Agency for International Development and American Councils for International Education are pleased to announce the beginning of recruitment for the “Introducing Principles of Modern Surveillance of Infectious Diseases” Community Connections Program. Community Connections is a program of cultural and professional exchange for Turkmenistan professionals. Finalists of this program will travel to the United States to participate in a three-week training in the Fall 2008. The deadline for application submission is June 30, 2008. more
