Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program

The U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan Announces an Open Competition for the 2009-2010 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program

The Hubert H. Humphrey Program provides opportunities for outstanding mid career professionals from Turkmenistan to take part in a 10-month, non degree program of independent study at a leading U.S. university during the 2009-2010 academic year.  Candidates must hold positions of leadership in the public or private sector.

Fellowships are granted competitively in public and private sectors in the following fields:

A.  Agricultural Development/ Agricultural Economics
B.  Communications/Journalism
C.  Substance Abuse Education, Treatment and Prevention
D.  Economic Development/Finance and Banking
E.  Educational Administration, Planning and Policy
F.  HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention
G.  Human Resource Management
H.  Law and Human Rights
I.   Natural Resources and Environmental Management
J.   Public Health Policy and Management
K.  Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration
L.  Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (Teacher Training or Curriculum Development)
M. Technology Policy and Management
N.  Trafficking in Persons, Policy and Prevention
O.  Urban and Regional Planning

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have:

  • a university degree;
  • master’s degree or PhD in the chosen field and a minimum five years of professional experience; 
  • demonstrated leadership qualities and a strong commitment to public service;
  • fluency in English 

Application deadline is completed for 2007.

Application Forms:  Applications can be obtained from the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat and American Corners in print form. Applications both in print form and electronic form are accepted. Please visit the following website and choose “For Applicant” to complete the application form: http://client.wbai.com/hhh. The deadline is 1 July 2008. For regional participants, consultations are available at the American Corners in Dashoguz, Turkmenabat, Turkmenbashy, and Mary.
