On a one week tour in Turkmenistan, the U.S. Air Force Band "Mirage" performed public concerts and workshops at performance halls, music schools, universities and military academies April 25-May 2, 2009. The band performed for Turkmen audiences in Ashgabat, Mary and Turkmenabat, and the reception of the audience was progressing every other day. The members of Mirage exchanged ideas about music, art, family and military life and united in their mutual love of music and culture. A joint performance with the Turkmen orchestra of the Guard Of Honor Battalion in Ashgabat gave the groups a rare chance to collaborate with their international counterparts, and blend their two cultures together in a unique performance. This was an exclusive performance for soldiers, and officers in Ashgabat city. They also visited all music schools in Ashgabat, as well as the National Conservatory in addition to their public performance at the Magtymguly Music and Drama Theater.

In the provinces, Mirage performed for the military cadets school in Mary, officers and soldiers in Turkmenabat, as well as full house public performances in theaters in Mary and Turkmenabat. The band was very warmly received in all of the venues, and have been asked to return. Thousands of Turkmen music fans and music professionals enjoyed the band’s performances of various world and American music.

"Mirage" is comprised of eight musicians from the United States Air Force Academy Band.
