Instructions for the 2015 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV-2015)
The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that Diversity Visa-2015 opens for electronic entries at noon, Eastern Daylight Time, Tuesday, October 1, 2013, and closes at noon, Eastern Daylight Time, Saturday, November 2, 2013.
The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV) makes available up to 55,000 diversity visas each year, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. Those selected in the DV program may apply for immigrant visas to the United States.
Applicants can access the electronic DV entry form (E-DV) at the official E-DV website:http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ during the registration period. DV instructions are also available on the Department of State webpage at http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1318.html. DV entries are only accepted through the E-DV site, which has complete instructions. There is no fee to enter.
Beginning May 1, 2014, DV-2015 entrants will be able to use their unique confirmation number provided at registration to check the online Entrant Status Check at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ to see if their entry was selected. Entrant Status Check will inform successful entrants how to apply for diversity immigrant visas (IVs) for themselves and their eligible family members. Confirmation of visa interview appointments will also be made through Entrant Status Check. Applicants should print and keep their confirmation page until at least June 30, 2015, as applicants can only perform an entry status check with the confirmation number provided after registration.
Successful entrants are not notified by email on the status of their E-DV online entry. Any email claiming to notify entrants they have been selected for the DV program is not legitimate. Applicants can only access information on their application through the online Entrant Status Check at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/.
