Alumni Programs and Activities

Alumni activities promote greater contact and cooperation among former participants of USG-sponsored exchange and training programs throughout Turkmenistan. The goal of alumni programs is to increase alumni involvement in community development activities. The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan hosts a number of conferences, seminars, and meetings for alumni, such as annual National Alumni Conferences, Career Fairs, Educational Fairs, and Alumni Reunions. PAS also prepares and disseminates news and information of general interest to alumni and other contacts.

PAS publishes and distributes a quarterly newsletter, the "Aluminium Boom," written by and for USG exchange and training program participants. Besides the newsletter, the Embassy hosts an Electronic Labor Exchange website. The E-Labor Exchange Board matches the right people with the right skills in the right jobs in Turkmenistan. For alumni, E-Labor Exchange posts job vacancies offered by local and international private businesses and non-governmental organizations. For employers, the Board hosts a database of resumes from alumni seeking professional positions. Aside from job announcements, the Board contains a wealth of information about grant programs, scholarships, and training opportunities.

The Embassy also encourages alumni to register with the State Alumni Website that provides information on various grant, job, scholarship, and training opportunities for alumni. The site also connects alumni of USG-sponsored programs from all over the world.

The U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section also provides grants for USG-funded exchange program alumni in Turkmenistan. The purpose of the program is to support alumni community projects that deepen mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Turkmenistan. Alumni can apply for the Small Grants Program and Travel Grants Program.
